Ms. Winona Archie

Greetings, Trip Family!

My name is Winona Jones-Archie, and I am excited to introduce myself as a proud member of the RAM Family! With more than 30 years of experience in education, I have a deep passion for helping students learn, grow, and succeed. Throughout my career, I have learned that students thrive when they feel connected, encouraged, and supported. Creating a positive learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential has always been at the heart of my work.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving students, families, and educators across three metro Atlanta school districts in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach, math instructional specialist, assistant principal, and Coordinator of Social Emotional Learning with Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Although I retired after three decades in education in 2024, my passion for working with students led me back to the classroom to serve as a Math Intervention Teacher here at Trip. This role holds a special place in my heart because I spent more than a decade teaching math intervention earlier in my career.

I earned my bachelor's degree from Clark Atlanta University, my master's degree from Central Michigan University, my specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University, and my leadership certification from the University of Georgia.

Outside of school, I am a proud wife and mother of two sons, both graduates of Gwinnett County Public Schools, and I am looking forward to welcoming my first grandchild this fall. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and encouraging others to become the best version of themselves.

It is truly a privilege to serve the students and families of Trip Elementary. I look forward to partnering with our outstanding staff, families, and community to ensure every student grows academically, socially, and emotionally. Here's to an amazing year filled with learning, growth, and success!

Ms. Lisa McKenna

Greetings! Mrs. McKenna here! Welcome to Trip Elementary!

I grew up with a love for teaching and reading.  I still remember the days of playing school in my bedroom back in New Jersey when I was 5 years old.  My walls were my chalkboard, and my friends were my students.  I cherished all the teacher editions of textbooks that I could get my hands on.  So, it was no surprise to my family when I became a teacher.

In 2002, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri and began teaching 2nd grade.

Then in 2003, my husband and I moved to Georgia, where I taught 1st grade for the Atlanta Public School District.

A move to Gwinnett County in 2004, brought me to Chesney Elementary where I taught 2nd grade and Computer Specials.

When we purchased our home in Monroe in 2008, I began teaching 1st grade at Trip Elementary.  As a charter member of Trip, I have been blessed with so many friendships with fellow teachers, parents and students!  I’ve been fortunate enough to teach both 1st and 5th grade here at Trip.

One of the most memorable moments I’ve had was being selected as Trip’s Teacher of the Year in 2018.  It was such a privilege because the staff I work with is the best of the best!

My husband and I have truly embraced living in Georgia, with all its wonderful traditions and southern hospitality.  I’ve also become a huge UGA football fan, Goooo Dawgs!

In my spare time, you can find me going to the movies (the previews are my favorite part), cooking, visiting the public library, reading on my back patio, or digging into a True Crime show!  We also love our two spoiled cats, Martie McFly, and Charlie.

I hope to see you around Trip this year!
